Frequently asked questions about iScribe ePrescribing

Q: Who can use the iScribe ePrescribing tools?
A: Any prescriber with a valid prescribing authority can select to use the iScribe Web and/or PDA tools. PDA-based electronic prescribing is limited to users in select regional rollouts and is available for purchase. Web-based electronic prescribing is available to all users. Registered users can also grant administrator rights to a non-prescriber in their practice. The administrator will have access to view pharmacy renewal requests, reports, and other web tools.

Q: For which patients will I be able to view histories?
A: If you are using either the online pharmacy renewals or electronic prescribing tools, you will be able to view prescription histories created using your iScribe account. For some patients, you will also be able to view patient medications histories from claims data, as long as you have indicated receipt of patient consent. Patient prescription history may not be available for all patients; a number of factors, including geographic region and patient’s plan benefit provider, may impact availability.

Q: How do I get patient information into my iScribe account?
A: Caremark will work with you to transfer a patient list into your iScribe system. Click here for more information and a list of supported systems. You and your staff can also easily add patient names and data via the Web tools or directly on the PDA.

Q: To which pharmacies do the iScribe system connect?
A: The iScribe system can transmit prescriptions to and receive renewals from the Caremark mail service pharmacy and select retail pharmacies including independent, regional and national pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, Eckerd and Rite Aid. Retail connectivity may vary by region; prescribing regulations vary by state.

Q: What hardware do I need in order to use the iScribe tools?
A: Please visit the system requirements page.

Q: If I run into technical problems, what support is available to me?
A: The iScribe help desk is available to assist you via toll free at 1-877-483-1324 or via email at service@iscribe.com.

Q: What training or demonstrations will be available on the iScribe system?
A: We offer online training, demonstrations and basic product overviews. Training can be accessed after you log in to the iScribe system. The demonstrations and overviews can be accessed here. We can also schedule one-on-one phone and web-based training. Please call the iScribe help desk to schedule a mutually convenient time.
